CEIN promotes and manages scientific research, innovation and transfer of knowledge in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the School of Engineering in fields as civil engineering, environmental engineering, systems engineering, financial engineering, telecommunications financial engineering in accordance with University and national science and technology and innovation policies.

The Engineering Research Center is formed by the following research groups:

RESEARCH GROUP IN CIVIL ENGINEERING (GICI) 

MISSION: GICI Research Group has as its substantive function to carry out, foster and strengthen research in knowledge belonging to Civil Engineering; and thus, contribute resolving Colombian problems within an international context.

RESEARCH GROUP IN FINANCIAL ENGINEERING (GINIF) 

MISSION: It is based on UdeM's lemma, "Science and Liberty", GINIF Research Group has as its mission to lead, manage and promote knowledge in the field on knowledge of Finances through research, extension and its relation with society. Its work contributes to resolving problems belonging to the financial world, and to forming researchers that contribute solutions to Problems in Colombia and Latin America.

RESEARCH GROUP IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING (TAOTEL) 

MISSION: It is based on UdeM's lemma, "Science and Liberty", TAOTEL Research Group has the mission to promote research culture and the comprehensive formation of professionals who may contribute to resolving TELECOMMUNICATIONS problems through research activities, extension, internationalization and a University-Industry relation.

RESEARCH GROUP IN ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURING (GEMA) 

MISSION: Universidad de Medellin GEMA research group aims to contribute to resolving local, regional and international environmental problems by generating new knowledge supported on a highly qualified interdisciplinary group working with technical, academic and scientific quality.

RESEARCH GROUP IN BIODIVERSITY, BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOENGINEERING (GRINBIO)

MISSION: Its mission is to work actively from BIOTECHNOLOGY to conserve the environment and to implement the sustainable use of BIODIVERSITY by generating marketable products and developing alternative solutions to environmental problems.

RESEARCH GROUP IN SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (ARKADIUS) 

MISSION: Its mission is to integrate faculty members and students of the program in activities that strengthen research lines, scientific disclosure and articulating of the practice to comprehensibly train students.

RESEARCH GROUP IN ENGINEERING IN ENERGY (GRINEN) 

MISSION: GRINEN Research group in Energy –, which is part of the Engineering in Energy program and it is supported by the School of Engineering at Universidad de Medellin, has as its main focus to strengthen, guide and qualify research group members in developing Research, Development and Innovation (in Spanish, I+D+i) projects aimed at resolving problems regarding renewable and alternative energy, the Smart Grid, energy efficiency and energy markets within a national and an international context.

RESEARCH GROUP IN WATER QUALITY AND WATER MODELING (GICAMH) 

MISSION: The Research Group in Water Quality and Water Modeling (In Spanish, GICAMH) aims to contribute to resolving problems related to an adequate utilization of water resources by generating new knowledge.

RESEARCH GROUP IN SUSTAINABILITY (GIS) 

It will conduct interdisciplinary and innovative research projects focused on analyzing regional development in dimensions as political, economic, social and environmental by exploring research methods that contribute to understanding sustainability problems.
