Basic Sciences Research Center promotes and manages scientific research, innovation and transfer of knowledge in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Department of Basic Sciences in accordance with University and national science and technology and innovation policies.

CICBA's work receives input from 4 research groups belonging to the Department of BasicSciences:

• Research group in Mathematical Education (SUMMA)
• Research group in Nanostructured Materials and Biomodeling (MATBIOM)
• Research group in Scientific Modeling and Computation (MC2)
• Science of Earth and Space Research Group

One of the Center's main strengths is its international component in which two fundamental aspects are reflected. The first is international agreements and articles published in international science magazines.

Currently, the Center has specific research agreements with universities and institutes in different countries in the world including Chile, Brazil, Australia, Spain, England, The United States and Mexico. Likewise, it has had articles published in ISI / SCOPUS high-impact magazines in each of the fields highlighting Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP)
