NAME OF THE PROGRAM

The Master's Program offered is named "Master of Law".

PRESENTATION

The Master of Law is a campus-based academic part-time program which aims to qualify the professional practice of law and related fields with high-level training. It is the direct result of a vast research development of Universidad de Medellin's Legal Research Group, ranked A1 in COLCIENCIAS, the Colombian Department of Science, Technology and Innovation; also, it has a publication named "Legal Opinion (in Spanish, Opinión Jurídica)", which COLCIENCIAS has indexed in Category B, and this is what explains that its central axis is research; likewise, this program offers professionalizing training.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

Degree: Master of Law
Length: Four academic semesters
It Addresses: Professionals in Law and related fields
Mode: Campus-based
Schedule: Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 m.
Admissions: annually

OBJECT OF THE PROGRAM

This program offers a comprehensive study of Substantive Law in a subsidiary fashion which aims to complement UdeM's current Master's Program in Procedural Law, and hence, globalizing UdeM's law studies and research.

MODES OF THE PROGRAM

Aiming to fulfill Colombia's new educational demands and aware of the social reality of professionals who have graduated from universities in the region, academic work is conducted in seminars with research lines in Public Law and Private Law and a common transversal research line in Theory, History and Philosophy of Law.

Furthermore, this Master's program will offer internship plans and dual-degree possibilities in postgraduate programs at prestigious national and foreign higher education institutions including:

UNIVERSIDAD DE MEDELLÍN PROFESSOR RESEARCHERS

Carlos Mario Molina-Betancur. Dr. Molina holds a Post doctorate in Legal Sociology of the School of Higher Education in Paris (Ecole De Hautes Etudes en Paris), and is a Doctor in Public law of Université Paris-Sud 11, Panteón-Assas. He is a Master of European Public law of the Academy of European Public Law in Spetses-Greece, and a European Community Consultant of the French Government, and Head of the Master's Program and of the Doctoral Program in Law.

Andrés Botero-Bernal. Dr. Botero holds a Doctorate in Law of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentine University). He holds a European Master's degree in (History and comparison of political and judicial institutions of Mediterranean European Countries at the universities of Messina and Milano (Italian Universities), Autónoma de Madrid and Córdoba (Spanish Universities).

Carlos Alirio Flórez-López. Dr. Flórez holds the degree of Doctor of History of Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Colombian University at Medellin Campus). He is a Specialist in Social Research theory, methods and techniques l, and the University's Historian. He is also a full-time Professor researcher at the school of law at Universidad de Medellin.

Mabel Londoño-Jaramillo. Professor Londoño is a doctoral candidate of philosophy at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana university, and holds a Master's degree in Procedural Law of Universidad de Medellin. She is a Specialist in Legal Argumentation of Universidad de Alicante university in Spain, and a full-time Professor researcher at the school of law at Universidad de Medellin.

Luis Alonso Rico-Puerta. Professor Rico holds a Master's degree in procedural law and is a Specialist in administrative law of Universidad de Medellin. He is an attorney of Universidad Autónoma Latinoamericana University, and a full-time Professor at Universidad de Medellin.

NATIONAL PROFESSOR RESEARCHERS

Mauricio Garcia-Villegas. Dr. Garcia holds a post doctorate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison – USA, and is a Doctor of the Université Catholique de Lovain-la-Neuve – Belgium, and an attorney at law. He is a researcher related to the Center for Social-juridical Research (in Spanish, CIJUS) of the School of Law at Universidad de los Andes University in Colombia.

Olga Lucia Acosta-Navarro. Professor Acosta is an Economist, a Specialist in Economic Policy and Regulation of Université Pari and a Master of Economics and Development of the same institution. She is a candidate for a Doctorate of Economics and Development at l'Université Paris-Sorbonneand a Professor Researcher in the School of Economics at Universidad del Rosario university.

Guillermo Montoya-Perez. Professor Montoya is an attorney of Universidad de Medellin and holds a Master's degree in College Teaching of Universidad del Valle. He is a specialist in Procedural Law, Family Law and Private Law of U.P.B. Currently, he is a practicing attorney.

Elvia Maria Gonzalez-Agudelo. Dr. Gonzalez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Literature of Universidad de Antioquia, and is a specialist in Latin-American Literature of Universidad de Medellin. She is a Master of Curriculum of Universidad de Medellin, holds a Doctorate in Pedagogic Sciences of Universidad de la Habana, and is a full-time professor at Universidad de Antioquia.

Lorenza Correa-Restrepo. M.A. Correa holds a Bachelor's Degree in philosophy and Letters of Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and Master's degree in Education: Psychopedagogy of Universidad de Antioquia. Currently, she is a coordination assistant at Universidad de Medellin Publishing Center.

Eduardo Dominguez-Gómez. M.A. Dominguez is a historian of Universidad de Antioquia, a Master of History of Universidad Nacional (at Medellin campus), Coordinator of the Central Bioethics Committee of Universidad de Antioquia, and the Director of UdeA Research Groups in communication, journalism and society.

Hernan Valencia-Restrepo. Professor Valencia is a Master of private law of Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, an attorney at law, a philosopher and a theologist. He is an undergraduate and postgraduate professor of courses including private law, fundamental rights and theory of law in various universities in the country, and he is an Arbitrator at Medellin Chamber of Commerce (in Spanish, Camara de Comercio de Medellin).

Javier Tamayo-Jaramillo. Dr. Tamayo is a Doctor of Law and Political Sciences of Universidad Pontificia Universidad Javeriana; also, he is a specialist in economics and insurance law of Université catholique de Louvain (Geneva), and a guest leturer at Université Paris II Panthéon.

Marco Antonio Velilla-Moreno. M.S. Velilla is an attorney at law and a specialist in commercial law of Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. He holds a Master's degree in Civil Law of the Université Paris II in France. He is a Master of State in Economic Law of Université d'Orléans, France, and a State Council Magistrate.

Libardo Rodríguez-Rodríguez. Dr. Rodríguez is an attorney at law of Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a Doctor of Administrative Law of Université Paris II, and has been an Administrative and Constitutional Law Professor for over 30 in various universities in Colombia. Also, he is an Ex-State Council Magistrate.

Jorge Alberto Parra-Benítez. Professor Parra is a Master of Private law, and a specialist in Family and Commercial Law. He is a litigating attorney and a Professor of Private law at Universidad de Medellin and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana: Furthermore, he is the director of the Private Law Study Line in the Master's Program in Law at Universidad de Medellin.

INTERNATIONAL PROFESSOR RESEARCHERS

Daniel Mendonca-Bonett. Dr. Mendonca is a Paraguayan Attorney at Law. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education Sciences of Universidad Catolica, Asunción, Paraguay and a Master's degree in Scientific Research Methods. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Juridical Sciences of Universidad Nacional de Asunción, Paraguay, and is a specialist in public anti-corruption policies of the University of Georgetown in Washington, USA.

Benjamín Moisá. Professor Moisá is from Argentina and Doctor of Law and Social Sciences of Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, in the Republic of Argentina. He is a specialist attorney in Business Law and a tenured Professor of Private Law II at Universidad de San Pablo de Tucumán in the Republic of Argentina.

Miguel Carbonell-Sánchez. Dr. Carbonell is from Argentina and holds a Bachelor's Degree of the School of Law of the UNAM in México. He is a Doctor of Law of Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in Spain, a researcher of the Institute for Judicial Research of UNAM, and the Coordinator of the Constitutional Law Department of UNAM.

Ricardo Guibourg. Professor Guibourg is an Argentine Attorney at Law and a Doctor of Law and Social Sciences of Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina. He is a Judge of the National Court of Labor Appeals, a tenured professor and an emeritus researcher of Universidad de Buenos Aires. He is also the Director of the Department of Law Philosophy of Universidad de Buenos Aires and the President of the Argentine Law Philosophy Association.

Josep Aguiló Regla. Dr. Aguiló is from Spain and holds a bachelor's degree in Law of Universidad de las Islas Baleares in Spain. Also, he is a Doctor of law of Universidad de Alicante in Spain and a professor researcher at that same University.
