PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The objective of the Agribusiness Management Program is to train men and women professionals to manage and lead companies and businesses in different agricultural activities. This programs starts with a general conceptual framework which is common for Economic Science and Administration professionals, keeping their own identity and specificity in their fields of agriculture with technical, biological, physiological and scientific knowledge of production processes, and an in-depth study of agriculture and livestock chains, and finally, they will undertake agribusiness management targeting the development of the agribusiness sector.

The purpose of this program is to provide our society people who are endowed with enough ethical human technical professional solvency and innovative skills in innovation, research and production processes committed to the sustainable development of agribusiness sector.

OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE

Agribusiness management graduates will have training in business planning and leadership activities, marketing and merchandising strategy design,problem analysis and decision-making, and the detection and analysis of agribusiness opportunities, and producing business plans.

These graduates will have competencies necessary to manage, design, implement and operate processes being fully-trained with knowledge about the legal framework, terminology and logistics required by food-sector related international businesses.

They will implement analysis methodologies and integration strategies, food chain competitiveness. Also, they will use innovation tools and technological development, and they will promote public marketing policies for agribusiness planning and development.

Working Potential:

Graduates may:
• Work for National and international agribusiness consulting and service companies.
• Be Private financial sector consultants in matters concerning agribusiness loans, and they can work with loan seekers.
• Work for agribusiness companies and entities in administration, planning, marketing and financial departments.
• Be entrepreneurs in the sector creating their own companies or reorganizing companies in the sector.
• Work in Public companies in managing and assessing agribusiness-related projects or agrimarketing programs.
• Work for agribusiness-related import and export companies.

FLEXIBILITY

Our Agribusiness Management Program allows a simultaneous degree at the School of Economic Sciences and Administration at University of Medellin in Business Administration, Tourism Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Marketing and International Business.

This program has three elective courses at the school of Social Sciences and Humanities, three complementary courses students can choose from the offer UdeM provides, and three undergraduate courses in accordance with a student's Line of emphasis which they may undertake in a postgrad program of their interest

This program has nine levels of training including a final project and students can choose the modality a professional internship, a research project, or an entrepreneurial and innovative project.
