In furtherance of the principles of Science and Freedom, the program attempts to generate the culture of tourist development of the country through the formation of Administrators of Tourist Enterprises who will efficiently manage the ecological and cultural patrimony, by identifying and taking advantage of the strengths and advantages offered by Colombia for the development of the tourist industry.

The strength of Colombia for its rich biodiversity, together with the opportunity generated by the global man's tendency to reconcile himself with Nature, provides the possibility of economically developing the country. This development must be adequately led, strategically planned for it to be enriching and the environment will not be plundered.

It is necessary to have professionals able to lead the strengthening of the existing infrastructure and the creation of new tourist enterprises

Duration and Degree

The course of studies of the program of Administration of Tourist Enterprises of the Universidad de Medellín will take 10 semesters of day classes on campus.

To graduate as professional of Administration of Tourist Enterprises, the student must earn all the credits required by the curriculum, he must submit a graduation paper or do business practice, or submit an entrepreneurship project. Furthermore, he must have passed the Quality Test of Higher Education (ECAES).

Additionally, the student must accredit knowledge of a foreign language in the manner established by the Universidad de Medellín in its internal regulation.

In addition to the above, at the conclusion of his studies and as a graduation requirement, the students must accredit knowledge of a third language, selected by each student.


The graduate in Tourist Enterprises of the Universidad de Medellín is a person with integral formation founded on freedom and social responsibility, competent to lead tourist organizations in complex and changing environments, and able to manage new organizational cultures. The graduate responds to the needs of the tourist sector with possibilities of creating his own enterprise or working for any public or private organization.
